Welcome to Coastal Creations Studio

For over 25 years, owner Michelle Gates was a work-at-home, stay-at-home Mom of 2 beautiful daughters.  While she had always been creative in life, she began to find that drawing, painting, and crafting were a nice way to wind down from the day.  For several years, Michelle enjoyed creating a variety of art pieces.  From themed birthday parties for her girls or finding items to repurpose, refurbish and reimagine, the creativity never stopped. So much so, that after lots of encouragement of family and friends, Michelle began traveling to local vendor markets as well as selling online and in an art gallery.  She met many amazing like-minded people at events. 

In August of 2021, like many of us facing life changing events in our lives, Michelle lost her best friend and cheerleader in life, her Mom. A few months later, Michelle decided that since her girls were all grown up and moved out on their own, the field she was working in was a dying field and that life is too short, she decided to take a leap of faith. Michelle signed a lease for a small space on Main Street after deciding to open a brick-and-mortar location. This decision would allow local Tampa Bay creatives with the same passion for arts and crafts an opportunity to showcase their works for sale in her art studio. Michelle is currently the proud cheerleader of an average of 24 local Tampa Bay artists at any given time at the studio gift shop.

Although classes were an afterthought, after knowing the personal positive effects of spending a couple hours hours on arts and crafts, Michelle quickly realized that arts and crafts workshops would soon become something that would stay a part of Coastal Creations Studio and Gift Shop. What a wonderful opportunity to reach others and allow them a chance to see how relaxing unplugging from the outside world can be.  Having the ability to allow others a place with an opportunity to find their inner creative has been very rewarding!
